« backKevin Breit Stars at Greenbank Folk Concert

On Saturday, May 17, 2008 starting at 8:00 PM .

Centennial Hall, Greenbank - Hwy 12, 30 mins N of Whitby

The insanely inventive Kevin Breit will close the Greenbank Folk Music Society's 2007 - 2008 season on May 17th, together with one of his most creative bands, Folk Alarm. Showtime: 8 PM.

Kevin is, of course, already a legendary guitar and mandolin player who has collaborated with the highest calibre of artists across the globe, including Norah Jones, Derek Trucks, Harry Manx, Cassandra Wilson, Carlos Del Junco, Molly Johnson, The Wailin' Jenny's, Sass Jordan and Cyro Baptista. For the past decade, he and his band The Sisters Euclid have been holding court every Monday night at The Orbit Room in Toronto, the popular venue co-owned by Alex Lifeson. They have just released their latest CD, the raucous Faith and Cola, which also features guests like Jane Bunnett, and Cellist Matt Brubeck.

With a reputation as an unstoppable instrumentalist, it's only natural that Kevin would surround himself in his popular band, Folk Alarm, with other similarly accomplished musicians like Russ Boswell, and Jorn Juul Andersen. Folk Alarm audiences are always treated to a changing, sometimes quirky repertoire that takes them into musical zones where they've never been before. Folk Alarm has all the ingredients to push the boundaries of our musical lives a little wider at Greenbank's seasonal closing night. Join us in appreciation of a band of truly great and unusual musical thinkers.
